With the first season of Netflix’s Lost In Space reboot heading to DVD and Blu-ray next month, we take a look at the best merchandise inspired by Netflix and Amazon’s original shows:
Stranger Things
Probably the most merchandised of any streaming series, Stranger Things has inspired its own Monopoly edition, a range of action figures from Funko, soundtrack albums, novels, a comic book, behind the scenes book, Dungeons and Dragons game, a slots game, a branded Trivial Pursuit release, T-shirts, a DVD release packed in a retro VHS videotape box, plus mobile games for iOS and Android.
That’s a rollcall of merchandise that most films would be envious and, while Netflix doesn’t release viewing figures, the fact that so many firms are happy to license the brand suggests the show is a 100% bona fide hit.
The Grand Tour
When Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May fronted Top Gear, the BBC’s commercial arm pumped out a startling array of merchandise including mobile games, clothing, videos, toiletries, Easter eggs, music CDs and probably the ultimate tie-in, a hugely popular run of arena shows.
While it can’t match their previous show’s line-up, their Amazon series The Grand Tour has inspired two coffee table books, clothing ranges and a reasonably good console game that allows fans to race around locations seen in the series.
Narcos
One of Netflix’s biggest hits, Narcos has been followed by prequel series Narcos: Mexico which is currently filming for its second series.
All three series of Narcos are now available on DVD and Blu-ray, and the show’s soundtrack is also available from music streaming services, as well as on CD for those who prefer to buy a physical copy.
Via CyberCasinoIndex.com, which rounds up the top rated UK casinos, we learn there’s also a new Narcos branded slot game, so users can also try out Narcos video slot based on the infamous Pablo Escobar for free, and there’s also Narcos: Cartel Wars, a mobile game for iOS and Android phones.
Lost In Space
Netflix’s reboot of the classic sci-fi series proved such a hit with audiences who loved its updating of the Robinson clan’s adventures that a second series was confirmed just weeks after the show debuted.
As mentioned above, Season One is heading to DVD and Blu-ray on July 22nd joining the previously released official soundtrack album and Lost in Space: Countdown to Danger, a four-part graphic novel retelling of the series. The show has also inspired a range of unofficial T-shirts, hoodies and jackets.
Lost in Space season one is released on DVD and Blu-ray on July 22, 2019 and can be pre-ordered from Amazon.co.uk.
