Billie Piper returns to ITV2 as Hannah/Belle de Jour this month for a third series of the hit series Secret Diary of a Call Girl.
In the UK the show has attracted audiences of over two million while also enjoying huge international success including in the US.
The third series finds Hannah’s carefully segregated worlds thrown into disarray when sister Jackie (Joanna Bobin) moves in and starts dating her ex, Ben (Iddo Goldberg). Meanwhile Hannah’s workplace persona Belle is embarking on ever more extreme escorting experiences to find material for a follow-up to her successful first book.
While Belle starts to find herself attracted to her editor Duncan (James D’Arcy), friend Bambi (Ashley Madekwe) falls for a client, the hedonistic, young aristocrat Byron (David Dawson). Just as Hannah may be in with a chance to settle down it seems she may not know all there is to know about Duncan.
Outlining why Belle is attracted to Duncan, Co-Producer Roanna Benn says: “He’s very different to the other men that she’s met in that he knows everything about her and he seems to be very unjudgemental of it. As time goes on, she realises that she is very much attracted to him and she thinks, ‘this could be the person I could have a relationship with. This is a person who is worldly, who’s been round the block and who knows everything I do. He knows that I’m quite bright, and he’s not pigeonholed me as a hooker. He also thinks of me as a writer.’ And so they do form a relationship. But there is a big twist, which I don’t think I should blow now…”
Secret Diary of a Call Girl, ITV2 from January 28th.
