The acclaimed BBC adaptation of John Le Carre’s Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy is coming to Blu-ray next month, the first time the drama has been released in HD in the UK.
Released to celebrate the 40th anniversary of its first broadcast, the drama stars Sir Alec Guinness as Le Carre’s most famous and enduring character, the quiet, unassuming and brilliantly perceptive spymaster, George Smiley.
The classic story sees Smiley brought out of retirement in order to uncover the identity of a top level mole in his former intelligence agency, dubbed The Circus.
Guinness’s performance wowed audiences and his portrayal of Smiley is widely considered to be the definitive screen version of the character.
Other cast members include Ian Richardson, Bernard Hepton, Hywel Bennett, Sian Phillips, Patrick Stewart, Beryl Reid, Anthony Bate And Michael Jayston.
This Blu-ray release will hit stores on 2nd September, almost 40 years to the day of the first episode’s broadcast on September 10th 1979, and includes a special feature The Secret Centre.
