Pay-TV giant Sky says its sports channels had “set new records” for live Premier League football this season.
In a statement released after rival BT announced its sports channels would remain free for broadband customers, Sky said average audiences were up 7% on last season.
It also highlighted that Sky Sports had shown 49 of the season’s 50 most watched Premier League matches.
And with BT having exhausted its quota of matches for the current season, Sky was keen to pint our that it would be the only place to watch the title race unfold.
Barney Francis, Sky Sports Managing Director, said: “This is our biggest and best Premier League season and viewers are responding in record numbers. Sky Sports has offered the best range of matches, the best analysis and the best production.”
