Sony’s ebook app for Android-powered mobile phones and tablets is now availably to download form the Android Market, but there’s no word as yet on the release of the previously announced version for Apple’s iPhone and iPad.
In November the company announced on its US ebookstore site that the apps would launch “in December” however in the build-up to Christmas the arrival date was changed to January without any note of explanation.
The Android app comes pre-loaded with 3 Classic titles plus excerpts from 3 best-sellers and allows readers to create and edit bookmarks and highlights in books.
Owners of Sony’s Reader Daily Edition reader can also sync bookmarks and current pages across their devices.
