TalkTalk is to close the feature gap between its TV offering and that of its rivals by launching a multi-room service for fibre broadband customers and new mobile app early next year.
Both features are already available from the UK’s largest pay-TV brands, Sky, Virgin Media and BT.
At a press event held on Tuesday evening, executives from the firm said the enhancements came after extensive customer consultation and would support the “value” nature of their proposition.
The mobile app is being powered by CSG International’s Ascendon platform and brings together catch-up, subscription on-demand and digital purchases and rentals, alongside linear access to the customer’s chosen subscription channels.
Will Ennett, Acting Managing Director at TalkTalk TV, said: “We’re focussed on offering a truly premium TV service at an unbeatable price.
“With the internet and mobile changing the way our customers watch TV, we’ve tailored our service to suit their evolving needs.
“We’ve streamlined TalkTalk TV to create a more integrated and seamless experience across devices, making it even easier for customers to watch the entertainment they love whether at home or on the go.”
Kent Steffen, president of global OTT business at CSG International, said: “Together, TalkTalk and CSG have created a differentiated digital TV experience, aligned with consumer demand for access to video content anytime, anywhere, across devices.
“Paired with TalkTalk’s extensive content library, Ascendon creates an intuitive, multiscreen, personalised TV viewing experience for every TalkTalk consumer.”
