TalkTalk reveals slowdown in TV subscription growth

May 14, 2015 - Martin Hoscik@seenituk

talktalk_brand_shotNew performance figures released by phone, broadband and TV provider TalkTalk suggest the firm is finding it harder to sign up new TV subscribers.

82,000 customers joined the ISP’s TV service in the three months ending March 2015 (Q4), down from 115,000 in the previous quarter and more than 100,000 lower than its 2014 Q4 figure of 185,000.

Despite the slow-down in subscriber growth, TalkTalk is now the UK’s third largest Pay-TV operator, behind Virgin Media and Sky, with a total user base of 1.4m.

TalkTalk has promised further development of its TV platform, including letting users buy the first four seasons of HBO’s Game of Thrones direct from their set top box from next month.

Customers will also be able to stream their purchased episodes on TalkTalk’s TV2Go app.
