Tudors star lands Superman role

British actor Henry Cavill, familiar to TV audiences for his portrayal of Charles Brandon in The Tudors, has been confirmed as the big screen’s latest Superman.

Cavill’s was beaten to the role of Superman for the 2006 movie, Superman Returns by Brandon Routh and has also been linked to the roles of James Bond & Batman.

No title or release date for the new Superman film have been announced although in a statement director Zack Snyder said Cavill was “the perfect choice to don the cape and S shield.”

Earlier this month the first picture of fellow Brit actor Andrew Garfield as cinema’s Spider-Man was released.
