Having already embarked on a con involving a life-sized gold tiger viewers might have thought the Hustle team had had enough of mixing dangerous creatures and money, yet next week’s penultimate episode sees them conning a ‘mark’ who dreams of working with TV ‘Dragons’ Deborah Meaden, Peter Jones and Duncan Bannatyne.

The team are on something of a personal vendetta, Mervyn Lloyd (Danny Mays) is the boss of a firm which has managed to do the unthinkable and con Mickey (Adrian Lester) by selling him a useless mobile phone online.

According to the age-old laws of Grifting, when a Grifter is conned, he is guaranteed a run of bad luck, prompting the team to consider what the future holds if Mickey has lost his moo.

The gang sets about working out a plan to reel in Mervyn. Due to Mickey’s rotten luck he has to sit this one out and someone else needs to run the con. The baton passes to Ash (Robert Glenister). All they need to do is convince Mervyn that Albert (Robert Vaughn) is on the verge of creating the next big thing, but what?

The team needs to hatch a foolproof plan to snare Mervyn and get Mickey’s mojo back; otherwise it looks like his bad luck is here to stay…

BBC Two’s viscously tongued ‘Dragons’ Deborah Meaden, Peter Jones and Duncan Bannatyne guest star as themselves.
