UKTV’s Drama grabs exclusive UK rights to The Pinkertons

The_PinkertonsUKTV’s Drama channel has snapped up exclusive rights to The Pinkertons, a new crime drama based on real cases investigated by Pinkerton’s National Detective Agency founder Allan Pinkerton.

Pinkerton is played by Scottish actor Angus MacFayden (Braveheart, Chuck) alongside Jacob Blair as Allan’s son, William and Martha MacIsaac as Kate Warne, America’s first female detective.

Pinkerton was known for revolutionising detective work and is considered the originator of the fingerprint, mug shot, use of surveillance, and undercover work.

He broke with convention when he hired Kate, teaching her his new forensic techniques, and developing her into a master of disguise, able to cleverly infiltrate both high and low society.

The series is produced by Canadian production companies Rosetta Media and Buffalo Gal Pictures, and created by Alpine Labs who are based in the US.

Adrian Wills, General Manager for Drama, commented, “2014 was a huge success for Drama and it is the right time to broaden the channel’s content line up by premiering brilliant US dramas to our viewers first, ahead of other UK broadcasters.

“The Pinkertons will complement the channel’s existing slate of dramas and I’m sure viewers will enjoy this compelling series.”

Emma Sparks, Acquisitions and Co-Productions Manager added, “The Pinkertons is the perfect fit for the channel as we move forward in looking for brand new and exclusive dramas to broaden the channel’s portfolio of content.

“It is great to be working alongside Zodiak Rights to secure some of their best programmes.”

The series will air on Drama later this year.
