UKTV’s Drama to show Minnie Driver’s Old Testament mini-series, The Red Tent

July 6, 2016 - Staff@seenituk

Red Tent - Series 1 - Picture Shows: Minnie DriverThe Red Tent, the four-part mini-series starring Minnie Driver, is to air in the UK next year on Drama, the free-to-air channel from UKTV.

Launched three years ago, the channel is available to all UK homes and is celebrating its third birthday having grown to become the nation’s second biggest non-PSB channel.

Set in Old Testament times, The Red Tent is described as “a sweeping tale” told through the eyes of Dinah, the daughter of Leah and Jacob.

The titular tent is Dinah’s home which she shares with all the women of her tribe, including her mother and Jacob’s three other wives, Rachel, Zilpah and Bilhah.

It’s also a place where the women swap stories, share advice and raise their daughters, but when Dinah falls desperately in love, her family oppose the match and she suffers a devastating loss.

As well as Driver the series stars Rebecca Ferguson, Iain Glen, Morena Baccarin, Will Tudor and Debra Winger.

Alexandra Finlay, UKTV’s head of acquisitions and co-productions said: “The Red Tent is a perfect addition to Drama’s growing slate of shows, featuring an epic story with a fantastic ensemble cast.

“We are delighted to bring this exclusive first-run title to the channel.”

The Red Tent will premiere on Drama early next year.
