Video: Robert Downey Jr in The Judge

Robert Downey Jr sets aside the glamorous and fast-paced action lifestyle of Iron Man’s Tony Stark for his latest role as a big city lawyer in Warner Bros’ gritty court room drama, The Judge.
The Avengers star plays hotshot lawyer Hank Palmer who is forced to return to his hometown of Indiana after his estranged father Joseph – played by acting legend Robert Duvall – is accused of murder.
Joseph is the town’s former judge, a revered and feared figure in the small community who struggles to adapt to his move from the bench to the witness stand and finds himself clashes with his son’s efforts to prove his innocence.
Downey Jr and Duvall are joined by Billy Bob Thornton as prosecutor Dwight Dickham, determined to put Joseph – who he dismisses as “a holier than thou prick” – away.
As Palmer battles to save his father, he finds himself once again drawn into a family and life that he abandoned decades before, including brother Glen (Law & Order’s Vincent D’Onorfio).
Other cast members include Vincent D’Onorfio (Law & Order), Jeremy Strong (Zero Dark Thirty), Oscar Winner Billy Bob Thornton, and Melissa Leo.
The film was co-produced by Susan Downey, Robert’s wife, and directed by David Dobkin – best known for comedies Clay Pigeons, Shanghai Knights, and Wedding Crashers – who developed the story with Gran Torino writer Nick Schenk.
It opened the 2014 Toronto International Film Festival last month and is set for a nationwide release on October 10th.
