The smartphone market is awash with handsets powered by Google’s Android operating system but many – too many in our opinion – are let down by cheap, plastic bodies that make them look and feel anything but high-end.

When you’ve shelled out up to £500 for an off-network, SIM-free handset you deserve both to feel and see where your money went and too phones live up to that challenge.

But like a lot of tech sites, our attention has been grabbed by the latest HTC ONE which is crafted from a single block of aluminium to create a solid, robust product that should easily see you through your airtime contract and beyond.

The handset also features a large, 4.7” HD screen and HTC’s BoomSound dual, front mounted speaker set-up to guarantee you decent audio to match your HD films.

The Android OS is spruced up by HTC’s Sense and BlinkFeed overlays which ensure the software element of the phone looks just as good as the hardware.

Inside the case is a 1.7GHz Qualcomm® Snapdragon processor and 2GB of RAM and the handset is available in 32GB and 64GB models, ensuring there’s plenty of room to store you apps and music.

The HTC ONE is available on contract from the UK’s biggest networks and as a SIM-free purchase from online and high street retailers. Check out the video below for a peek at its stylish looks:
