Virgin Media is to become the UK’s first pay-TV, phone and broadband provider to also offer mobile phones on the same bill.
Customers can already get a discount on a mobile phone taken via firm’s Virgin Mobile arm but these are billed separately to other services.
The cable firm says it will now offer mobile phones on the same bill as other services as part of a bundle which “can be tailored to suit a customer’s individual or family needs”.
Although Virgin claims prices will start from £30 per month, this figure excludes the £15.99 a month cost of line rental needed for home phone services.
Dana Strong, chief operating officer at Virgin Media said: “Our fantastic new bundles deliver unprecedented value as standard.
“For the first time, households will be able to get the best broadband together with the UK’s best value mobile SIM, as part of a bundle perfectly tailored to the customer’s needs. And I’m delighted our current customers have the chance to enjoy this fantastic new flexibility and unparalleled value first.”
TalkTalk also offers low-cost mobiles to its broadband and TV customers but these aren’t included on the same bill as other services.
There’s mounting speculation that BT will also launch a mobile phone service for its residential customers later this year or early next.
