Virgin Media’s TiVo continues to play catch-up with bottom of the market Freeview boxes.
Despite being touted as industry-leading, the TiVo currently lacks basic features such as BBC Red Button interactive services or reminders.
Customers have long complained about the lack of these basic features as well as errors in the programme guide. The TiVo also lacks the ability to search Music on Demand content.
At launch the box lacked global padding, a feature available on other digital recorders, although this was later added in a software update.
Now it seems the wait may finally be over. A post on the official support forum confirms the company “will be introducing reminders functionality to TiVo in our next phase code release”.
Last week the Advertising Standards Authority banned an advert for the TiVo and warned Virgin Media “to ensure claims that were likely to be interpreted as factual and appeared in testimonials were not misleading or likely to mislead.”
The ASA has previously carried out informal interventions and asked Virgin to alter three other adverts and online claims.
Red Button services are reportedly coming to the TiVo next month, almost a year after the box was launched.
