Beware of reading ANYTHING about the superb Tinker Tailor Solider Spy on the BBC News website, its Magazine section has just published an article containing MAJOR spoilers.
If you read the article you’ll know exactly which character is the mole – the whole point of the film.
As I type this, the article in question tops Google News for the searches ‘john le carre’ and ‘tinker tailor soldier spy’.
For obvious reasons I won’t provide a link but to the right is a (appropriately redacted) screen grab of the major spoiling image they embedded in their article.
Sure, many of us have read the original novel but a lot of the potential cinema audience haven’t.
Worse than spoilering the film, the article doesn’t even warn readers that their enjoyment of it will be seriously damaged if they read the article.
If you revealed the ending of one of their major drama series the BBC would go after you with a fury, so how can its online division be so careless about spoilering other people’s films?
Our own spoiler-free review can be found here.
Update: Far, far too late, the BBC have updated the article to warn that it contains spoilers.
