A new High Definition version of BBC Two Wales is to launch next month on Sky, Freesat and digital terrestrial (Freeview and YouView), along with a new BBC Two Northern Ireland HD channel which will launch on digital terrestrial.
Both channels will also be available on BBC iPlayer.
Kieran Clifton, Director of BBC Distribution & Business Development , has also confirmed the closure of BBC Two Scotland “on all platforms” to accommodate the forthcoming launch of BBC Scotland.
Instead of BBC Two Scotland, viewers will receive “the standard version of BBC Two.”
In a blog post Clifton said: “We are not in a position at this point to provide all of our regional feeds in HD, owing to lack of broadcast capacity and native HD broadcasting capability across the majority of the English regions.
“However, we continue to look at ways in which we can deliver further HD services within the constraints we face. For now, we’re pleased to be able to take another step on our journey towards an all-HD future.”
