Posting on the company’s support forums, one Plusnet staff member revealed internal trials were underway.
The employee said: “We’re in the early stages of TV trials with staff. We are excited about the opportunities this will extend to our customers in the near future but as yet, have no fixed timings for a public launch.”
Although no details were provided, it’s likely the service will be based around the YouView platform which is backed by Plusnet’s parent company BT, rival TalkTalk and major broadcasters including ITV and Five.
Despite initial scepticism from analysts, the YouView platform has proven a big draw for viewers looking for an alternative to Sky and Virgin Media, with TalkTalk signing up more than 230,000 subscribers since September 2012.
