BT announces “renewed efforts” to grow sport audiences and revenues

BT is to make “renewed efforts to grow viewers and revenues for BT Sport” with current strategy and content boss Andy Haworth being promoted to the newly created role of Managing Director of Sports Rights and Commercial.

Haworth will continue to report directly to Marc Allera, CEO of BT’s Consumer division which includes the BT, Plusnet and EE brands.

The ISP and broadcaster has also announced the appointment of former Liberty Global and Vodafone executive Cindy Varga as Managing Director of Strategy and Transformation for the Consumer Division.

Reporting to Allera she will also work closely with Mike Sherman, BT Group’s Chief Strategy and Transformation Director, and join his extended strategy leadership team for BT Group.

Allera said: “During his time at BT, Andy Haworth has done an excellent job of leading our consumer strategy and has repeatedly demonstrated his ability to deliver market defining strategies.

“With a new role focusing on accelerating the growth of BT Sport, Andy is a great asset as we continue to create the best TV and Sport experience for our customers.”
