EE BAFTA Film Awards 2019 – Who to look out for on the red carpet

February 8, 2019 - Staff@seenituk

Shudu, a new 5G-powered, AI stylist will show fans how to replicate the stars’ Red Carpet outfits.
This weekend’s EE BAFTA Film Awards promise to be a star-packed event with a confirmed list of attendees and presenters which includes Timothée Chalamet, Glenn Close, Olivia Colman, Melissa McCarthy, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Taron Egerton.

Award sponsors EE have partnered with a digital model named Shudu to create an AI stylist. Powered by 5G and using state-of-the-art holographic technology, Shudu will help film and fashion fans shop the red carpet looks from home.

Hosted by Joanna Lumley, the ceremony will be broadcast on BBC One and BBC One HD at 9pm on Sunday 10th February.

Edith Bowman and Dermot O’Leary will host the official red carpet live programme, which will be broadcast on the BAFTA website, as well as BAFTA’s Facebook (/BAFTA), Twitter (@BAFTA / #EEBAFTAs), YouTube (/BAFTAOnline) and via EE’s Facebook page (/EE) at 17.00 GMT.

In addition, EE’s own carpet host Laura Whitmore will introduce the star guests to Shudu and invite then to pose for a photo as they arrive for the ceremony.

Nominees confirmed to date include: Adam Driver, Adam McKay, Alfonso Cuarón, Amy Adams, Barry Jenkins, Barry Keoghan, Brad Bird, Bradley Cooper, Christian Bale, Claire Foy, Cynthia Erivo, Glenn Close, Jessie Buckley, Lakeith Stanfield, Letitia Wright, Lynne Ramsay, Mahershala Ali, Margot Robbie, Melissa McCarthy, Nadine Labaki, Octavia Spencer, Olivia Colman, Paweł Pawlikowski, Peter Jackson, Rachel Weisz, Rami Malek, Richard E. Grant, Spike Lee, Steve Coogan, Timothée Chalamet, Viggo Mortensen, Viola Davis, Wes Anderson, and Yorgos Lanthimos.

Presenters and other attendees include: Andy Serkis, Bill Nighy, Cate Blanchett, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Danai Gurira, Eddie Marsan, Eleanor Tomlinson, Elizabeth Debicki, Ellen Page, Gary Oldman, Henry Golding, Jamie Bell, Joseph Fiennes, Lily Collins, Lucy Boynton, Luke Evans, Marina de Tavira, Mary J Blige, Michelle Rodriguez, Michelle Yeoh, Olga Kurylenko, Rachel Brosnahan, Regina King, Richard Madden, Riz Ahmed, Salma Hayek, Sophie Okonedo, Taron Egerton, Will Poulter and Yalitza Aparicio.

EE’s Shudu will use a Google Pixel 3 to capture the A-listers’ glamorous outfits and share these shots with those at home via an innovative new online chatbot.

Using the latest artificial intelligence technology, the stylist is able to detect and learn the differences between items of clothing based on cut, shape and fabric patterns.

Using this knowledge she recognises each stars’ outfit and then searches thousands of affordable alternatives to find the perfect match, further tailoring her recommendations based on each fan’s preferences.

Pete Jeavons, Director of Brand Marketing at EE, added: “Our award-winning network has always let you do more of what you love in more places.

“This year we’ve gone further than ever to challenge what people might think is possible by using 5G and AI to bring digital supermodel Shudu to life on the BAFTA red carpet.”

Laura Whitmore Red Carpet Host at the EE BAFTAs said: “It’s been an incredible year of film and the EE BAFTAs is always such a wonderful night having everyone together and celebrating so much talent.

“As film progresses so does the red carpet and this year, we have the world’s first digital supermodel Shudu brought to life by EE’s 5G technology.

“I love the fact that she will give everyone the opportunity to learn more about and even shop the looks of the stars on this year’s BAFTA red carpet right from the comfort of their sofas.

“I know everyone is going to be blown away by her. I’m looking forward to seeing all the glamour and chatting to all the nominees.”
