ITV and BBC’s BritBox SVOD service launches in Canada

Doctor Who is one of the classic BBC shows on offer.
BritBox, the subscription video-on-demand service backed by BBC Worldwide, ITV and AMC, has launched in Canada following its US debut.

The service offers much-loved British dramas and comedies, including Rowan Atkinson’s Maigret, Classic Doctor Who, Torchwood, Keeping Up Appearances and Poirot, which can be watched online, on iOS, Android, Apple TV, Chromecast, and Roku.

Audiences will also be able to enjoy Idris Elba’s Five by Five and Little Boy Blue, a four-part factual drama featuring Stephen Graham (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy).

Selected event TV will also be available.

Soumya Sriraman, President, BritBox North America, said, “We know that Canadians have a deep affinity for British culture and the extraordinary television programs produced in the UK, so launching BritBox in Canada has always been at the top of our list.

“The fact that we can also, for the first time ever, premiere some of the most popular British programs and big special events such as Trooping the Colour as soon as 24 hours after their UK premiere is – hopefully – the cherry on the sundae.”
