Broadcasting legend John Craven, famed for Newsround, Swap Shop and Countryfile is to host a new BBC Two quiz show.

The channel has ordered 30 episodes of Beat The Brain which will see teams of four square up to the eponymous Brain and compete in a series of zones that test the full range of their mental capabilities.

Instead of questions, participants will face visual puzzles, logic problems, memory challenges and an array of thorny brain teasers designed to give them and viewers a complete mental workout.

The series is being co-produced by Objective Productions and Over The Top Productions and will air on BBC Two later this year.

Nigel Hall, Managing Director of Over The Top Productions, says: “I am really excited to be working with the legend that is John Craven, who has starred in so many landmark TV shows in his career.

“We were absolutely thrilled he chose Beat The Brain to be his next TV project.

“These brain games are addictive and we are confident that this will be a show that the whole family can enjoy together.”
