JR returns – 80's supersoap Dallas is revived

Larry Hagman, Patrick Duffy and Linda Gray previously reprised their roles for two TV movies
TV’s biggest soap Dallas is to return for a new a run to air on US network TNT.

It’s been confirmed that original series stars Larry Hagman, Patrick Duffy and Linda Gray will return in their roles JR, Bobby and Sue Ellen Ewing.

The three previously reprised their roles for two TV movies J.R. Returns and War of the Ewings set after the original show’s finale which apparently saw JR commit suicide having lost Ewing Oil.

The original series ran from 1978 to 1991 and aired on BBC One in the UK. The show achieved record audiences worldwide with in 1980 with the infamous “who shot JR” cliffhanger.

Another famous cliffhanger say Duffy return to the series after his character had been killed off, with the revived Bobby Ewing stepping out of the shower as his death and the subsequent series was explained away as a nightmare.

The new run will focus on Jr and Bobby’s sons John Ross and Christopher who are set to repeat history and clash over the future of the family business.

In the pilot for the new run, Josh Henderson (Desperate Housewives) will play John Ross alongside Jordana Brewster (Fast & Furious) who will play Elena, a girl involved in a love triangle with Ewing cousins.

Executive producer Cynthia Cidre, who wrote the acclaimed film The Mambo Kings and produced the TV series Cane, has written the script with Michael M. Robin acting as director and executive-producer.
