Filming has begun on a BBC Two comedy drama starring David Mitchell and Robert Webb as British diplomats posted to the fictional Central Asian Republic of Tazbekistan.

In Our Men, Mitchell plays newly arrived British Ambassador Keith Davies and Webb his seasoned second in command, Deputy Head of Mission, Neil Tilly.

The duo are under constant pressure from London which wants to ensure UK PLC doesn’t miss out on lucrative business contracts in an emerging oil rich nation with a dubious humans right record.

The series have been written by James Wood (co-creator of Rev) and Rupert Walters (Spooks) and is being produced by That Mitchell & Webb and Big Talk productions for BBC Two.

The ensemble cast includes Keeley Hawes (Spooks, Ashes To Ashes, Upstairs Downstairs) as the Ambassador’s wife, Jennifer, and Yigal Naor (House Of Saddam) playing Karzak, the President of Tazbekistan.

Tom Hollander (Rev, Pirates Of The Caribbean, In The Loop) guest stars as Prince Mark, a minor royal and trade envoy on a key mission to help secure an important oil contract for Britain.

The series is produced by Chris Carey and directed by Jeremy Webb and is currently filming in the UK and Turkey for broadcast later this year on BBC Two.
