Pierce Brosnan’s The Son debuts on AMC from BT next week

April 13, 2017 - Martin Hoscik@seenituk

The Son, a new ten part drama series starring former 007 actor Pierce Brosnan, is coming exclusively to BT TV next week.

Based on Philipp Meyer’s acclaimed novel, the series is a “multi-generational epic” which tells the story “of America’s birth as a superpower through the bloody rise and fall of one Texas family.”

Brosnan plays Eli, head of the McCullough family who was kidnapped as a child and raised among the Comanche Native American tribe, an upbringing which informs how he conducts his business dealings.

Eli was born on the day Texas became an independent Republic, earning the nickname “First Son of Texas” and is a relic of the Wild West, uneasy with the inexorable taming of Texas and the uncertain future of his legacy.

Henry Garrett (“Poldark,” “Testament of Youth”) co-stars as Pete McCullough, Eli’s eldest son who grew up in Eli’s shadow and struggles to make his impossible father proud.

Other cast members include Zahn McClarnon (“Fargo”) as Toshaway, a Comanche war chief who captures young Eli and becomes his father figure, Paola Nunez (“Reina de corazones”) as Maria Garcia, whose family is the last of the wealthy Spanish aristocracy in South Texas and Sydney Lucas (“Fun Home”), in the role of Jeannie McCullough, the strong-willed tomboy daughter of Pete.

Episode one received its UK premiere at a special screening hosted at the BT Tower on Wednesday night and makes for a griping season debut which will have viewers desperate to see what comes next.

The series will air on AMC UK, which is exclusive to BT customers who subscribe either to BT TV or who watch the firm’s sports channel pack via a Sky box, from April 18th.
