RAC cuts fuel consumption and Co2 emissions through tie-up with EE

UK mobile provider EE has released a new video highlighting how its network is helping serve the nation’s business in increasingly inventive and innovative ways.

The video – see below – explains how a partnership with the RAC has helped the roadside assistance and insurance company reduce fuel use, thereby cutting costs and making a positive impact on the environment.

This has been achieved through the use of a new telematics machine developed by EE and fitted to 5,000 RAC operated vehicles.

The device is fitted with an EE SIM card and plugs into each vehicle’s diagnostic port where it collects data on a number of key metrics, including braking distances, idling times and average speeds.

This data is then assessed at head office where it’s analysed to identify the potential for efficiencies and changes.

In a single year these helped the RAC reduce fuel consumption by £500,000 and achieve savings in the cost of insuring its vehicles by being able to demonstrate better driver behaviour.

And it’s not just the company’s bottom line which has benefitted, by cutting back on fuel use the fleet has become greener and reduced its Co2 emissions, something which helps improve air quality for all of us.

Even if you don’t need to remotely analyse the movements and fuel use of a large fleet, EE at work offers a range of mobile phone and data solutions to help you be more productive.

And its 4G network, which recently went live in 12 new towns and cities across the US, means you can do more, faster.
