When The Avengers (Avengers Assemble to UK readers) opens in Japan next week, one Japanese firm will be hoping to benefit from its association with the film.
Arc Quest Co., Ltd., owners of the Colantotte brand, are the creators of the Magtitan NEO Legend bracelet as worn by Tony Stark/Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) in the movie.
The company describes billionaire philanthropist Stark as “absolutely a perfect customer for a Colantotte item” and says “by selecting Arc Quest to develop this tie-up product, Marvel Entertainment was appreciating Japan’s meticulous technological skills, along with Colantotte’s reliability, refined stylish design, and high-grade materials.”
In the film Stark upgrades Iron Man’s armour, drawing inspiration from the bracelet for one vital element of the suit.
The Avengers even has a scene featuring the Arc Quest Co., Ltd. president and his family. “Well, it was one of the conditions of the contract for using our product,” says President Katsumi Komatsu.
“I really wanted to appear in the film with my family. I think it was the first case for Disney as well! Luckily they have a great sense of humour and let us do it.”
In the UK Avengers Assemble is released on DVD and Blu-ray on September 17th and can be pre-ordered using the links below:
