Mobile network Three is to offer the “future proofed” Huawei Ascend P2 smartphone, promising users who buy the phone can enjoy its 4G network “without having to pay a premium, swap SIM cards or change price plans” when it launches later this year.
Currently supported by DC-HSDPA technology, Three’s Ultrafast network already covers 80 per cent of the UK population, with 4G LTE being added later this year.
The Huawei Ascend P2 supports both data types, meaning users should see a seamless transition when the network is upgraded.
Just 8.4mm thick, the phone runs Google’s Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) operating system and features a 1.5GHz quad core processor, 4.7 inch HD touch screen and 13 megapixel camera with a dedicated camera key.
Sylvia Chind, Head of Devices at Three said, “We’re delighted to announce that the Huawei Ascend P2 is coming soon to our network. It has exceptional design, power and functionality and as its Ultrafast ready, it has the technology to work on our Ultrafast network right now and in the future”.
