Movie and TV streaming service Netflix has announced a deal to bring some of Disney’s biggest live-action and animated films to members in the UK and Ireland
The deal means customers can get instant access to Disney and Disney•Pixar favourites including Ratatouille, Wall-E, The Chronicles of Narnia, and Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl.
The deal also includes Disney classics such as Dumbo and The Aristocats.
Over “the coming months” the service will also offer selected Disney, Marvel and Dreamworks SKG titles including People Like Us, which stars Star Trek Into Darkness actor Chris Pine, The Help, War Horse, and Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.
Netflix says it will also have “exclusive” rights to Marvel’s Avengers Assemble, John Carter, and The Muppets from next year.
“We are delighted to be able to offer our members an incredible variety of fantastic family films, from recent hits like Marvel’s Avengers Assemble to beloved classics like Mary Poppins,” said Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos. “We aim to make Netflix better all the time and hope members enjoy the rich offering of films we are making available from the Disney studios.”
“We always look to offer families Disney movies when, where and how they want them,” said Catherine Powell, SVP & GM, Disney Media Distribution, EMEA. “Working with Netflix in the UK and Ireland, we’re providing its members with a superb range of movie entertainment, through a high-quality and convenient viewing experience.”
