Warner Bros. Pictures has released its first trailer for Joker in which Joaquin Phoenix plays the iconic arch nemesis and is an original, standalone story not seen before on the big screen.
Phoenix stars alongside Oscar winner Robert De Niro in the film which is directed, produced and co-written by Oscar nominee Todd Phillips.
Phillips’ exploration of Arthur Fleck (Phoenix), a man disregarded by society, is not only a gritty character study, but also a broader cautionary tale.
The film also stars Zazie Beetz, Frances Conroy, Marc Maron, Bill Camp, Glenn Fleshler, Shea Whigham, Brett Cullen, Douglas Hodge and Josh Pais .
Joker is set for release beginning 4 October 2019, and will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures.
