UKTV takes exclusive rights to Jodie Whittaker’s The Assets and Ioan Gruffudd’s Harrow in new Disney TV deal

UKTV has signed a multi-show deal with Disney UK which will see five brand new and returning series – including Ioan Gruffudd’s Harrow and Jodie Whittaker’s The Assets – air exclusively on its W and Alibi channels.

Also included in the deal are three seasons of US comedy American Housewife, starring Katy Mixon (Mike and Molly), and the latest seasons of Quantico and Code Black.

Picture Shows: Ioan Gruffudd as Dr. Daniel Harrow

Harrow features Gruffudd as the “brilliant, unorthodox and mysterious” forensic pathologist Dr Daniel Harrow whose total disregard for authority and his unfailing empathy for the dead help him solve even the most bizarre of cases.

Set in Australia, Harrow is co-created by Secrets and Lies writer, Stephen M. Irwin.

Coming to W is sharp new comedy American Housewife which chronicles the daily life of housewife Katie Otto (Katy Mixon) as she tries to stand out among the wealthy and pretentious housewives and their privileged children in her new hometown of Westport, Connecticut.

The Assets stars Jodie Whittaker as CIA officer Sandra Grimes and is based on the book Circle of Treason: A CIA Account of Traitor Aldrich Ames and the Men He Betrayed.

Quantico will return to Alibi with season three launching exclusively on the channel in June.

The crime-drama follows the lives of young FBI recruits training at the Quantico base in Virginia and it has proved a hit with Alibi’s viewers.

Priyanka Chopra (Baywatch) returns as Alex Parrish and she’s joined by an all-star cast including Russell Tovey (Being Human, Him and Her), Johanna Braddy (Paranormal Activity 3) and Blair Underwood (The Good Wife, Rules of Engagement).

Exclusive to W is the return of ABC Studios’ Code Black with seasons three and four.

The emergency room drama follows four first-year residents and their colleagues who must tend to patients in an understaffed, busy emergency room that lacks sufficient resources.

Emma Sparks, head of acquisitions at UKTV, said: “We are thrilled to be working with Disney once again to bring these gripping shows to British viewers first.

“From emergencies in the operating theatre to solving crimes in sunny Brisbane, we are proud to add these series to UKTV’s growing slate of premiere acquisitions.”

Dayna Donaldson, general manager, Media Distribution, Disney UK & Ireland, said: “With this broad new range of hit series, we’re sure to offer something to cater to all UKTV viewers’ tastes.

“We are looking forward to working with UKTV to bring the crime drama Harrow to the UK for the first time, following its great success in Australia, as the first co-production out of ABC Studios International’s London-based team.”
