On a mission to become the first in the world to capture all 39 species of Birds of Paradise photographer Tim Laman and ornithologist Ed Scholes have spent the better part of a decade sleeping in tents and dangling from the rain forest canopy and survived everything the jungle has to throw at them to capture never seen before footage exclusively for Nat Geo Wild.
The pair travel deep into the impenetrable jungle of one of last wild places on earth, New Guinea where ordinary birds have evolved into some of the most beautifully bizarre species on Earth.
This clip features the dances of the stunning birds of paradise, with unique footage from the female bird’s perspective. Tim and Ed make natural filmmaking history by capturing a Goldie display with a remote controlled camouflaged camera.
Secret Birds of Paradise Thursday 6th December at 8pm on Nat Geo Wild, Sky 544 and Virgin 232.
