Yesterday explores Heroes of Biggin Hill

August 9, 2010 - Staff@seenituk

A new documentary telling the story of the WWII pilots based at RAF Biggin Hill airs this week on History-based channel Yesterday, as part of the channel’s ‘Spirit of 1940’ season which also included the John Nettles presented Channel Islands at War.

As well as the role of the pilots themselves, the programme also looks at the crucial work of those who kept “the few” flying, including Elspeth Henderson, Elizabeth Mortimer and Helen Turner who were the first women to be awarded the Military Medal.

The channel says Channel Islands at War has become the highest watched factual commission across the UKTV portfolio of channels.

The Heroes of Biggin Hill airs Thursday 12th August at 10pm, Yesterday is available on Sky 537, Virgin 203 and Freeview channel 12.
