Kevin Whately and Laurence Fox return for a fourth series of Lewis
Following the success of the recent third series, ITV has confirmed an order for a fourth series of Lewis, the Inspector Morse spin-off starring Kevin Whately.
Inspired by the Inspector Morse series adapted from the novels by Colin Dexter, who also serves as consultant on Lewis, the series also Laurence Fox as sidekick DS Hathaway.
Sally Haynes, ITV’s Controller of Drama commissioning said the show “is always one of the highlights of the year on ITV1 and features not only a great partnership between Lewis and Hathaway but some great plot lines and twists that keep the audience gripped. I’m thrilled it’s returning and I know our viewers will be too.”
Damien Timmer says: “Lewis has always attracted the best talent, and this year we’re welcoming back Stephen Churchett, Russell Lewis and Alan Plater as writers, with Bille Eltringham as our first director. With Oxford as our backdrop, our aim is to baffle Lewis and Hathaway with their most challenging investigations yet!”
The last series featured guest appearances by Simon Callow, Joanna Lumley, David Hayman, James Fox and Jenny Seagrove, as well as the return of series regulars Rebecca Front and Clare Holman.

I have just read that Lewis is coming back for a fourth series I am absolutly delighted this is a fantastic series with two great actors, look forward to seeing it
I am so pleased that Lewis will be returning to our screens, I had heard a rumour that it was being axed so was thrilled to see that we will get series 4, Series 3 was totally brilliant with first class actors I hope ITV continue to produce this excellant programe for many years to come.
So glad that there is to be another series. I also thought it was going to be axed.
This series is absolutely brilliant and the partnership between Lewis and Hathaway is wonderful.
Didn’t think anything could match Morse but I think this does.
Living in Arizona, USA, we don’t get too much British television. One we do get is Inspector Lewis shown on the PBS system on Sunday nights. I do enjoy the sleuths, Lewis and Hathaway, and the fact they usually slog around Oxford in the rain makes for great viewing (here in the desert we don’t get much rain). More is better in this case.
I also am thrilled that there is going to be another series.
I hope it runs for years.
In the tradition of great British mystery series. Great sites, Great acting. Great bits of humor.
THANK YOU ITV
