Netflix UK is raising the price of its basic HD subscription to £7.49, although existing customers will be spared the increase for 12 months provided they keep their subscription running.
In an email to members, the firm claims the increase is necessary “to continue adding more TV shows and movies, including great Netflix series like House of Cards and Better Call Saul.”
The basic SD £5.99 per month and £8.99 premium 4K plan remain unchanged.
The platform last raised its prices in 2014.
Netflix’s email to customers:
“In order to continue adding more TV shows and movies, including great Netflix series like House of Cards and Better Call Saul, we are increasing our price for new members from £6.99 to £7.49 for the 2 screens at a time plan. As a thank you for being a member of Netflix already, we guarantee that your current plan and price will not change for one year.“
