Gladiator II returns to the top of the UK’s official film chart following its release on disc.
Available via digital retailers since January, Sir Ridley Scott’s historical epic landed on DVD, Blu-ray and 4K UHD last week.
Having already secured two weeks at the top of the charts thanks to strong digital sales, the film is now enjoying its third non-consecutive week at Number 1 after soaring 17 places.
The film, which stars Paul Mescal, Pedro Pascal and Denzel Washington, picks up the action 20 years after the original movie.
Years after witnessing the death of the revered hero Maximus at the hands of his uncle, Lucius (Mescal) is forced to enter the Colosseum after his home is conquered by the tyrannical Emperors who now lead Rome with an iron fist.
With rage in his heart and the future of the Empire at stake, Lucius must look to his past to find strength and honour to return the glory of Rome to its people.
Also enjoying success this week is Lord of the Rings: War of the Rohirrim which enters the Top 10 for the first time.
Based on characters created by J.R.R. Tolkein, the film is set around 200 years before the events of the live-action Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit series.
