Channel 5 has snapped up the UK rights to Batman prequel, Gotham
The series explores the origins of future police commissioner James Gordon as well as the villains which made the titular city famous.
Ben McKenzie plays Gordon with David Mazouz appearing as the young, orphaned Bruce Wayne and Sean Pertwee as Bruce’s butler Alfred.
As Gordon investigates the murder of Wayne’s parents he and the young billionaire develop a growing friendship.
The show also stars Robin Lord Taylor as Penguin, Cory Michael Smith as Riddler and Camren Bicondova as Catwoman.
“Gotham is a thrilling drama built on iconic characters that fascinate,” said Katie Keenan, Channel 5’s head of acquisitions.
“Channel 5 is delighted to become the home of such a powerful, bold and visually stunning show.”
