Lust for a Vampire, the second in Hammer’s racy and rapturous Karnstein Trilogy, is getting its first ever Blu-ray release this August.
Directed by Jimmy Sangster, writer of the legendary Dracula (1958) and The Curse of Frankenstein), the film picks up forty years to the day since the last manifestation of their dreaded vampirism.
The Karnstein heirs use the blood of an innocent to bring forth the evil that is the beautiful Mircalla (Yutte Stensgaard). The nearby Finishing School offers rich pickings not only in in the blood of nubile young ladies but also with the headmaster (Ralph Bates) who is desperate to become Mircalla’s disciple.
As students in the school, inhabitants of the nearby village, and those who suspect Mircalla start to die, suspicion turns toward the Karnsteins and their ominous castle.
A visiting author instantly falls for her seductive yet lethal charms; and must save her from the wrath of his fellow villagers, whilst protecting himself against her deadly kiss.
Bursting at the seams with lovingly put-together extras including a new featurette on Hammer in 1970, Lust for a Vampire arrives on Blu-ray and DVD on 12th August via Studiocanal.
