In addition to the standard catch-up apps, box and TV manufacturers can include their own and partner apps to help differentiate their products.

Humax’s deal with Netflix means buyers of its STB’s can enjoy a large library of TV shows and top Hollywood films alongside their usual favourite subscription-free channels and shows.

Graham North, commercial director at Humax, said, “With the ever-increasing ‘binge-watching’ phenomenon, where entire series are consumed with no interruptions or commercial breaks, we have witnessed a dramatic revolution in viewing habits over the past two to three years.

“With the Netflix app fully integrated into the Humax FVP-4000T home page, our customers will now benefit from a seamless, ‘watch instantly’ streaming experience and an exceptional, diverse choice of entertainment options with unlimited hours of extra programming.”

The Humax FVP-4000T has three built-in digital HD tuners, enabling users to view and record more up to five channels at the same time and features a scroll back TV guide with seven day catch-up function as well as the ability to pause and rewind live television.
