Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle Sequel – Everything You Need to Know

Dwayne Johnson aka The Rock has the Midas touch, providing an instant boost to any project he’s involved with. However, no special magic was needed for Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle in 2018 as the film proved to be a huge box-office success.

Breaking all existing records for studio Sony, it’s therefore no surprise that a sequel was planned. Dwayne Johnson has been drafted in yet again along with a host of co-stars in a follow-up which promises to be just as exciting as the last one.

What do we know?
Dwayne Johnson took to his Instagram account to tease fans with a hint of what’s to come, promising a launch date of 13 December 2019. Jack Black, Kevin Hart and Karen Gillan are all hotly tipped to be reprising their roles in what’s hoped to be another blockbuster success for Sony.

However, in addition to the familiar faces making a return, there will be a cast of new characters too. Danny DeVito and Danny Glover are two of the big names joining in the fun, alongside Dania Ramirez from Once Upon A Time and Awkwafina from Crazy Rich Asians.

There’s no word yet about the roles they’re playing so watch this space closely for news over the coming months!

At the end of the last film, the Jumanji video game was destroyed to prevent anyone else from being trapped in the hazardous jungle world. Of course, the audience knows that what appears to be a neatly tied-up conclusion isn’t always the case…

There weren’t any obvious cliffhangers or plot angles which needed to be resolved so there’s lots of speculation about the plot. Writers Jeff Pinkner and Scott Rosenberg – the same pair as last time – are keeping tight-lipped but director Jake Kasdan has promised more references to the first Jumanji film will be included.

No need to wait
Although there’s scant details around about the Jumanji sequel, if you can’t wait to get your fill of the jungle there’s no need to wait around.

This movie has inspired a host of games centred around it. Jumanji is available on both the PS2 and on Windows PCs, building on the success of the very first movie release.

There’s an app you can download to play this jungle-themed game on. Also, there is a slot machine called Jumanji slot that is very appreciated not only for the graphic but for the good theoretical winning rate of 96.3%. Let’s not forget that you can actually buy the Jumanji board game itself and get sucked into another world!
