River Cottage heads Down Under

December 5, 2012 - Staff@seenituk

The hunt is on for a Australian Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall after the producers of River Cottage signed a deal to launch an Australian version of the show.

The presenter of River Cottage Australia will be mentored by Fearnley-Whittingstall who will feature in the first series and test his Aussie counter-part’s knowledge of food and enthusiasm for all things wild and organic, and resilience in setting up a sustainable farm.

”It’s brilliant to be taking River Cottage Down Under,” said Fearnley-Whittingstall.

“Australia’s a country I have long wanted to get to know. We’ve had some lovely Aussies visit us here at River Cottage in Devon and it’s high time I repaid the compliment.

“I know there are great things happening with local, seasonal wild foods and I can’t wait to tap into them. And I’m looking forward to meeting some Aussie Hughs. At least I think I am!”

The deal was brokered with Australian broadcaster Foxtel on behalf of Keo Films by Sarah Tong, Director of Sales at Hat Trick International.

Debbie Manners, MD of KEO films said: “It is KEO films aim to grow and develop its international footprint. The opportunity to replicate what we have done with River Cottage in the UK in Australia feels right and Foxtel are the perfect partners.”

Duane Hatherly, General Manager of Lifestyle Channels and Head of production at Foxtel in Australia said: “The River Cottage commission adds a new and incredibly exciting venture ot the Lifestyle Channel’s robust production slate.”

River Cottage Australia will be co-production between Granada Australia and KEO films.
