Michael Kitchen is returning to ITV with a new series of Foyle’s War set in the immediate aftermath of World War II.
In the new stories Foyle is now a Senior Intelligence Officer gathering intelligence in support of Britain’s security, defence and the Government’s foreign and economic policies.
At the heart of the British establishment Folye encounters corruption, communist sympathisers and traitors and will need all his intelligence, guile and intuition to keep the country safe.
The new three-part series has been developed by ITV, Acorn Media, and Eleventh Hour Films.
The first and third episodes are being written by series creator Anthony Horowitz who said he returned to the series “because there are still some amazing stories I want to tell.”
ITV say Honeysuckle Weeks is expected to return as Samantha Stewart, a role she has portrayed since 2002.
“We’re delighted to be bringing back one of ITV’s most original and successful crime titles. Anthony has found a brilliant and inventive way to move Foyle into the post-war era,” said ITV’s Laura Mackie.
Filming for new series will take place in September and further casting details will be announced later in the year.
