BBC Worldwide has announced a deal with Amazon.com in the US to provide nearly 400 hours of content for the online retailer’s new digital video download service Amazon Unbox.
The deal will see the BBC provide programming spanning multiple genres including Comedy, Drama, Science Fiction, Documentaries and News will be available to download to rent, with numerous titles making their US digital premiere.
Classic Doctor Who will be available alongside drama series such as House of Cards and Miss Marple and ground breaking documentary series Blue Planet, Life of Birds and Walking with Dinosaurs.
“The BBC is widely known for producing some of the most popular and entertaining TV shows in the industry,” said Bill Carr, Amazon.com’s vice president of digital media.
“We are proud to offer Amazon Unbox customers a faster, more convenient way to watch their favorite BBC programming in DVD-quality picture.”
