Continued but slower growth takes TalkTalk TV to 1.2m homes

TalkTalk_TV_player_2TalkTalk says it added 115,000 subscribers to its TV platform in the three months ending September 30th (Quarter 2), taking the total user base to 1.2m.

The number of sign-ups is almost three-times that achieved by fellow YouView shareholder BT in its most recent quarter, but is significantly below the 185,000 reported by TalkTalk in its Q1 results.

Unlike BT, TalkTalk’s TV customers can enjoy a range of popular Sky entertainment channels, including Sky 1 and Sky Living, as well as the full range of Sky Sports channels.

The firm says its strong content offering is appealing to customers looking to save money while enjoying more than just Freeview.

TalkTalk also added 15,000 new broadband customers and 40,000 mobile subscriptions, as well as enjoying 67,000 new converts to its fibre broadband service.

It will soon start shipping a free Pay as You Go SIM card to all Plus TV customers as it seeks to boost the number of ‘quad play’ customers.

Tristia Harrison, Managing Director of Consumer, said: “With more families looking to save money on household bills, its great to see them turning to TalkTalk for more of their essential communications services.

“We have the fastest growing TV service in the UK as our flexible, affordable YouView TV offering attracts families who want to pay a little for more content, not a lot.

“We are equally excited about the growth we are also seeing in broadband and mobile, and hope that our best value broadband, TV and mobile packages can help make more families across Britain better off.”
