Planet Earth II to get 4K Ultra HD Blu-Ray release next month

BBC One’s stunning natural history series Planet Earth II is getting a 4K Ultra HD Blu-Ray release next month – allowing fans to experience the series again in an unprecedented level of detail.

Filmed in 117 locations in 40 different countries, and presented by the legendary Sir David Attenborough, the series journeys to the four corners of the globe to discover the extreme forces that shape life in each of these iconic landscapes and the remarkable ways animals manage to overcome the challenges of surviving in the wildest places on Earth.

From eye-to-eye encounters with incredible creatures to epic journeys through breathtaking wilderness, experience the wonder of the natural world as never before in 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray.

Available to pre-order now from www.amazon.co.uk, the 4K Ultra HD Blu-Ray release showcases 4K resolution with High Dynamic Range (HDR) and a wider colour spectrum, offering brighter, deeper and more lifelike colours plus 5.1 DTS-HD master audio for a home entertainment viewing experience like never before.

Lesley Johnson, Operations Director UK for BBC Worldwide, commented: “The picture quality is astonishing. For the first time viewers can experience at home the picture quality viewed in the edit suite. The vastly improved compression of UHD Blu-ray with HDR means the experience is up to 10 times better than any broadcast or streaming service can provide.

Jonathan Cheesmur, Director of European Creative Services for Sony, added “The depth of field and pin-sharp resolution are stunning in Ultra HD Blu-ray and perfectly showcase the filming techniques used by the Planet Earth II production team.

“Ultra HD Blu-ray delivers a high data rate, far exceeding that of streaming services. Viewers will be amazed by the truly immersive experience when watching this landmark series in the very best possible quality.”

Planet Earth II is also available from www.amazon.co.uk on DVD and Blu-ray.
