Waterstone’s promises iPad ebook app ‘very soon’

UK book retailer Waterstone’s has a new iPhone shopping app but ebook fans should’t get too excited just yet as the app merely replicates the online shopping ability of the firm’s main website.

However a note in the shopping app’s description promises “there’ll be a dedicated ebook app out very soon.”

Confirmation that the retailer was planning to release an ebook app for Apple’s mobile devices first came in July courtesy of The Bookseller interview with managing director Dominic Myers.

Details of the app are still uncertain however there’s speculation it could be based on the same platform as the txtr shopping and reading app.

In the meantime, if you’re looking to order physical books from your iPhone’s 3″ screen the free shopping app can be downloaded from iTunes.
